Something happened to the human partner so after they found Mori in that basement they decided a human orphanage would be better for him to grow up in since he's more human-like than alien. But when he disappeared they obvi went looking for him. I think the one we saw recently wasn't the parent though, just works for the parent.
I have a bad feeling the human parent might be dead. If that's the case, I hope Rider becomes Mori's other adoptive parent.

Sometimes these flop on the comedy part but this one is actually pretty good at it. I loved the 70's shoujo bit at the end of ch 12 lmao. Also, the ML has an actual personality! I like the fact that they squabble, especially because it seems innocent enough. They have the emotional intelligence to tone it down when they're talking about something serious, so I see no harm in it. It's the whole "They fight like an old married couple" trope lol
