yoonbum died bc a car crashed into him, and coincidentally his parents died of a car crash and sangwoo died bc an old lady suffocated him with a pillow just like how his mother tried to kill him by suffocating him with a pillow when he was younger omfg what goes through the author’s mind

There’s theory Sangwoo didn’t die like that, there’s too many plot holes. Although, that could be a mistake by koogi and not actually a reason for Sangwoo being alive.
If he did die by the pillow, that is really interesting that you mentioned the rehung abt the mom. Hmm..
If you want I can explain the theory. (I like to think they all died though.)

There’s multiple theories out there that eludes to the possibility that he’s alive. The ending was very rushed due to the limited time LeZhin gave Koogi to work on it, thus she didn’t really have the time to explain everything that she wanted to in the story- leaving a lot of loose ends.
Like when they took DNA and hair evidence from Bum along with the knife and a swab of the floor from Sangwoo’s house that was never expanded on; along with the fact that the Uncle’s blood from the cut on his hand was on the same floor as well.
Koogi also wanted to give choker boy a backstory along with Sangwoo’s relationship with the girl from the beginning of the story but never got the chance to.
The way the story ended was really ambiguous and left a lot of loopholes as to what truly happened. Koogi would never intentionally emphasize something unless it was meant to be important- hence, theres speculation that Sangwoo’s death was staged by the hospital to get the public off their backs. If he did die, why would the police not be notified? Why did Yoonbum keep getting sent to the wrong room? And if Sangwoo was killed by the old woman, why was his room so easily accessible with no police present?
The doubting theory on his death was during the scene when Yoonbum finally got to “see” Sangwoo, he went into the elevator, and in front of him was a man in a wheelchair with an IV bag with burn scars on only half his head- the same side as Sangwoo’s. Koogi chose to emphasize this scene especially without giving us a clear answer as to whether or not he’s truly dead.
It may seem like he’s died at face value, but Koogi really stresses on details and their significance and maybe she chose to end it in a way that really left it up to the reader’s interpretation.

The granny said she held the pillow to Sangwoos head to make him stop yelling. She said as soon as she did that he stopped. Meaning she couldn’t have had the pillow held to his head for too long.
If the granny had killed Sangwoo, since Sangwoo was hooked up to the machines the front desk/ nurses would’ve been notified immediately.
2. Yoonbum kept being sent to the wrong room. No one is going to mix up the room of a serial killer. Especially since the police need to know where Sangwoo is at all times. My guess is that they were either trying to make yoonbum lose hope so he could stop nothing them. (Them probably thinking Yoonbum is one of the people protecting outside) or the hospital has to keep moving Sangwoo because of the protesters.
3. Usually there would be people guarding Sangwoos room. (Those people being cops) why was Sangwoos information given out so easily? Especially since Yoonbum didn’t give any identification. This may just be a plot error though.
4. Yoonbum got Sangwoos ashes. The hospital can’t give out a patients ashes just to anybody.
5. This one I don’t really agree with but here it is; the man in the wheelchair has the same/similar burns as Sangwoo. It was even on the same side of the head. (I did a side by side comparison and I think it was just to give Yoonbum the flashback idk if that was really supposed to be Sangwoo)
6. This is the most important one. Seungbae went to the hospital to find yoonbum. When seungbae (the cop) asked the lady at the desk where Sangwoos room was. The last quickly replied that Sangwoo had died. Seungbae then was really surprised hearing that. The lady at the front desk then saw how surprised he was so she had asked him if he was a cop, he said yes, then her answer changed to something like “see me later. Or talk to me later” idk I forget what she said exactly but her answer changed.
My guess is that it changed because Sangwoo didn’t actually die. That was just what the hospital was telling the protesters to keep them off their backs. This is a shady hospital after all.
Plus the hospital has two days to notify the police that Sangwoo has died, and btw they are obligated to tell the police if Sangwoo has died, or what his condition is. That’s why she asked if seungbae was a cop and that’s why she asked him to come back and talk to her.
