The clay they are using is very soft I think. The type that you constantly wet with water while you are still molding or modelling. The clay hardens when you set aside and stop putting water. So it's possible to get soft clay in their bodies.

I'm a finishing up my senior year and I have to pull my grades out of the trenches rn but this caught my eye and now it's been 10 hours of meticulously mapping out how their world works and fucking getting so choked up while reading every single chapter after 20 that I'm pacing my house and terrifying my dogs. I look like the torched souls portrayed in haunted houses and I've only just finished chapter 55. The way society is displayed and the understanding of the human psychology in this is just fucking phenomenal. I have no idea what I'd think of this if I didn't take my time with it but I really don't regret the time I've spent on it so far. I'm hoping that I have time to read the rest all at once cause honestly I was so hard to process the feeling of every chapter without a clear emotional resolve for me. I'm definitely going to buy this when I get cash. It's just so fucking amazing and I was absolutely expecting none of it.
