Like seriously they have been dating for so long and it was frustrating to watch yhat he still wasn't able to express his true feelings. The uke was a victim of many complicated family issues, I think it would be harder for him to express such emotion than the seme who grew up with lovely accepting parents. Imagine the trauma he still carries even if the author doesn't state it clearly, they still try to hint it to the audience with his behavior.
