The focal point is political intrigue, rather than just a love story and the plot is extraordinarily crafted. The main character isn’t a wimpy fuck and uniquely a hermaphrodite. The relationship only comes to fruition later, but it is bl and you do see them having intercourse. There are also major timeskips, if you’re into that.
