I always think about this, but those panels in a manga that are there for it to be cool, imagine it happened in real life. Like, imagine you’re that girl in the final chapter and that happens to you. I feel like the king wants the Duke to kill him and take over instead. Like, he’s provoking him because he doesn’t want to be the king and wants him to be the king instead(I don’t think he likes his mother) but I think the duke will stay the duke but the prince will take over instead and since he’s learned from young to only believe what he sees, he’ll be a better king that isn’t a puppet to his mother.
