Ah yes, the world clearly doesn’t have enough of people who are borderline psychotic. I love it when I see horrifyingly unempathetic characters do awful things. I love it when a paper thin personality mc whose only merit is to be attractive, written with an annoying amount of pride “wins” the love and affections (in this case, obsession) of main leads . But above all, I REALLY love a stupidly naive character who’s so innocent and trusting because all people are good and we should hold hands in a prayer circle and sing kumbaya. I haven’t read up to the grape scene(s) because…!!! — I don’t wanna. Ignoring the unnecessary violence and abuse (yay!!!) I didn’t hate some parts of the writing which is what makes it worse when you see smth that coulda been great, go so so bad (well, that’s more my opinion but). Like those self-reflective/introspective chapters from seung eon are great! I would argue that the ml is more developed as a character than the protagonist. Jiwook feels like a fetish scapegoat more than a protagonist and a victim of the intent of the plot. Realistically, you’d think that being impoverished so much and having to work your ass off to achieve or obtain opportunities would harden someone’s understanding of the world and of people, but I suppose not. Such a shame that he doesn’t have an ounce of the brain function that seung eon does! And I usually never side with tops like him (doesn’t excuse ANY of his behaviors)
Anyways, this isn’t a productive analysis of the story just a rant, sorry all who read this unfortunate word slop.

Idk i really tried to give this manhwa a fair shot. I read up til chapter 30 and I just can’t care. The antagonist is just… 2D. So is the ML. The FL is fine i guess.. this whole story is just so lukewarm. Unless I’m missing something I’m really confused on how this was on the first page of popularity for the shojo tag. This is no fault to the translators that did their best but, you can hardly read the story and whatever story is left is just so weak
If anyone has any other knowledge about it and disagrees you’re free to prove me wrong, after all, I only read 30 chapters.

It doesn’t matter the flaws leo has atp, it will never justify treating your partner (WHOM YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ANGRY AT BECAUSE YOU LOVE) like that. Because Leo may be emotionally immature, but not only is JJ a criminally inept communicator, his resentment is apparently enough to warrant him criminally assaulting the person he’s supposed to care about??? Okay go off hate sex but like at least treat the other person with basic human respect and decency??? You’re telling me this is supposed to be a relationship we root for when it’s obvious they’re wayyyyyyy better off separated??? Nah but fuck JJ. You can’t be all pissy over problems that the other person doesn’t know about? He fell in love with Leo the way he was, and he would’ve expected a certain level of negligence on Leo’s part to be conscious of how he (JJ) feels. That’s the whole point of communicating is to voice your problems and work together to solve them or…? Just break up? It’s not worth it if they don’t listen? But then not saying nothing and also still having feelings so you decide to reestablish a relationship with the same resentment you held from before is crazy work? Fuck this guy, JJ. Any JJ defenders are my ops.

Lidally one of them is unbelievably emotionally immature and the other is a resentful, poor communicator… yeah they deserve each other when they both toxic as hell

It’s the way I’m browsing the Mangago forum homepage and take a gander at “Yaoi Manga Top 5” to see Sekaiichi Hatsukoi as the first in the list. Okay, so I’m thinking, new chapter must’ve dropped that I forgot the contents of, or didn’t check. The way I’m reading this chapter unsuspecting of the events to come. Okay. So I’m gagged. Because it’s the way we got 12 years or something since publication for a confession finally to come after some arbitrary minor cannon fodder jealousy subplot is thrown in. Ladies and gentlemen and other unidentified members of the party, I am officially gagged. Like okay. Yeah. It’s concluded. The farce has ended, the war is over, the grass is green and the birds are singing but I’m here in utter bewilderment because excuse me? Anyways

Lusting after the person you’ve graped even after you’ve graped them is crazy work. Of all things, they could’ve at least made the guy feel sympathetic or even slightly remorseful
Instead he has a sexual fantasy about the person he graped soliciting him to presumably be graped again. It’s almost funny how bizarre that is idk.

It doesn’t matter the reasoning behind his decisions if he doesn’t share them and step up to act like a better partner. initially I was all taken in and in love with how wholesome it all is, but reading it now, I feel something is missing. Where is the drama? The angst? The toxicity? I mean sure, this is a healthy and cute young love story bur what is life without the spice of it? The adversity, the trials and tribulations that lead to untold triumph and repeating itself in perpetuity?

Basically, it’s nice that they are shy and reserved and contented (for now) with their superficial indulgences of courtship but I want substance that can only come from raw and unfiltered characterization. I think that the author is too focused on the gimmick of the story (“let’s make a relationship transactional”) at the moment, to spare pages dedicated to something that’s more than a fluff piece and I hope for it to come in due time because an mf is waiting y’all.
