god damn it it's now been three times I've been baited to read stories in which the male mc is supposedly devoted to their lover initially, become invested, but later I find out the mc ends up taking another girl(s) for whatever bullshit plot reasons. (elusive samurai, nano machine, tales of demons and gods). is the problem the uploaders not tagging the story as harems? no, these stories will build up the mc and their love interest's seemingly monogomous relationship, just to jump thru absurd hoops to justify emotional or physical cheating with another girl to absolve the mc of their hypocrisy (ie. nano machine, tales of demons and gods), then their dumbass (male) readers will always defend these characters with the provided plot reasons, saying dumb shit like "but he did it to save her! it's a political marriage! she sacrificed so much for him, she deserves to be his nth-wife! she raped him! etc". like stfu u brain-rotted porn-addicted basement dweller-- acting as if all of these plot points weren't thought out and written by the author. a couple fuckers I've encountered literally called a situation in which mc has side pieces not a harem bc he has only one girl he loves, despite fucking other girls for whatever bullshit plot reasons-- as if they don't count as humans. not to mention how obnoxious these fuckers sound when u say u dislike harems conceptually, always going "you're missing out" and "this one is actually good" as if u'll change ur mind. these same fuckers will crash out if I said "you're straight? no, u just need to find the right man for you". these fuckers will think an androgynous looking female character is a male despite having obvious breasts, go "ew yaoi" then "I'm not homophobic", and debase romance/josei manhwas as a whole bc they're "rapey" and in the same breath praise harems bc they have "powerful women".

so i just discovered that same-sex marraige is still not legal in South Korea? actually shocking considering the type and amount of yaois that come from that country. but i couldve sworn ive read bl manhwas with mls that married (or maybe not), so wouldnt these works be illegal?

well japan technically also doesnt recognize same-sex marriages. i imagine its bc queerness itself is not illegal, just you cant do anything legally about it. also, a lot of yaoi comes from a fetishy place, where a lot of authors don’t see queerness as being “real” (and a lot are actually homophobic)

i mean creating entertainment is not illegal, regardless of the genre. and if they get married in the story, then it's still a fictional world, not breaking any laws. BL content (like live action) isn't exactly popular either (in terms of production value for the companies. it is popular with the audience of course). for example heesu in class 2 was a recent BL adapted live action and that was a shitshow because they straight-a-fied it. and i heard some other BLs also get similar treatment, where they just get bromance.
SK is still very traditional conservative country, im just glad they're not completely like china where censorship is normal and you'd need cutting of the sleeves to indicate they're in love.

there a few countries who do find lgbtq+ series to be punishable by law. a well-known figure would be the MDZS author, co. and family getting sentenced to years of jail time. which is longer than the sentence of a child m*lester.
even with the Great Firewall, they can't completely blanket the internet. it's why some series from China enter unknown hiatus because they don't want to get caught.

why is it that (actual) reverse harem are so rare in female-oriented stories, when romance dominates these stories? you would think that by now since romance is one of the most explored genres and people are tired of love triangles, female authors would've started churning out more reverse harems by at least the last decade. but they are rare, and most are boring and/or plotless smut. in male-oriented stories that is dominated by action-type genres, harems are so commonplace (nowadays, if there is more than one interest, 50% it's a harem). it's like instead of popularizing reverse harems, we veered into creating BL instead. what are the social, psychological, etc factors that come into play? is it bc we dont have a "catalyst" that would popularize RHs (like what Mushoku Tensei did to isekai harems)? are women more monogamous in general, and find more than one partner to be cheating no matter what? are there just a lot more lonely/single Japanese/korean male authors than their female counterparts? (look, im not a fan of RH in particular, but ive read masterpieces across all genres, but there's no RH that scratch that itch and satisfy me enough to put a stamp on it and move on. if men can do it, why not women?)
is there a way to remove a misplaced genre for a story if we didnt upload the story on this site?
