Each chapter is a simplified version of a research report on an anomaly, which people call an SCP. You can easily search SCP-(insert number here) and it'll give you many results about that anomaly
You can also search what is SCP on YouTube and watch explorer series' video about since they have the best in depth explanation of the thing.
Ok but what is scp for? why does it have a high rating? It's only about monsters though.
It doesn't have any important meaning, think of it like it as a creepy pasta(honestly not really cuz it started in 4chan) that got bigger than slenderman to the point other people added their own stories to it and then a website was made for people to submit their own SCP.
So this comic is basically one of the many fanmade contents for SCP and SCP in general is already really more popular than creepypastas so fans will come running when they see the word SCP.
As I've said just search a video for it, you'll get a much better understanding than you would from a comment
