Weird ending. It was unexpected and set up a really weird dynamic between the two love interests even though technically they are the same person. Again wasn't he still upset he wouldn't be able to live honestly in his original world? Also the portal was such an awkward placement and did not fit the whole vibe of the story. Like wouldn't it have been a bit more interesting if they stayed together and managed to escape the fire, and after a short time skip it shows them living new lives under different names? That would've been a win.
