The teacher served as his reason to live. I think he fell at first sight. Then, the way he risk his remaining dignity to chase the teacher while helping finding the teacher's trainer, that's gotta be tough. Imagine helping the one you love in finding another person (who has a past with your love and a much better person than you)? He doesn't have anything to begin with. He only has his pride that surely will be crushed once he gets back home and his only hope is to stay with the teacher that seems to be not interested in him at all. So stop shaming/hating on him, both of them rather. They're both trying to survive and found someone they can rely on in each other.
Uke #2. This guy has lost someone in the past (seme#1) and when he found somebody, he found companion. He was attached to him and doesn't want to lose another special person again - he was afraid.
