Tbh I'm kinda disappointed in Yigon for not seeing how his brother truly is, but I'm not disappointed in how he is written.
It is really hard to trust Taekang again after breaking his trust and getting hurt.
As for his brother the reason why he Yigon is giving him "the benefit of the doubt" even though he already tried to kill him many times, is because he is the only person that was there for him when he was younger. He thinks of him as kinda like a lifeline in this world. That's why he tries to please him and to get his approval cuz he is afraid that he would lose the only person that treat him as a "family", the only person that "care" for him, if he did not get his approval.
Many people might think this is dumb but there are a lot of people that actually goes through with this. They stay with the family ot lover that they have, even though they are toxic, because they do not have the confidence that someone would love them, if they leave.
This could also add to Yigon's insecurity. After creating a bond with Taekang, he thought that he could be his new lifeline, someone that he could put his trust on beside his brother, someone that could possibly love him & be his new family. But Taekang shattered his delusion by telling him that those kind gesture are nothing to him and that he shouldn't have read into it too much, and breaking his promise to protect him (contract) as well. Thus shattering what little hope Yigon has.
This ultimately led to him leaning more towards his brother,even though he is a complete ahole, because as I said he doesn't have enough confidence that someone would truly "care" for him other than his brother. So he still tries to please him, get his attention, his approval, even though Taekang is trying to reach out.
What happen to kaizenscan? Why are their latest scans bad even in other manhua?
I'm more curious about the 2nd couple. Hope the author give them more screentime or at least side stories

If you get triggered easily just don't read this, but if you like a good angst & revenge story this is for you. Threat it as a villain origin story for the MC.
Some spoilers........This is kinda a happy ending for MC since he manage to get his revenge. "Happy Ending" in a romantic sense ...then no. "ML" (i don't think we should even call him that) is a stepping stone for MC to get his revenge and get more power. By the end of the story "2nd ML" was killed by "ML" (per novelupdate spolier) and MC managed to get more power thought "2nd ML's" death and keep "ML" by his side since he's useful. In terms of story I like it...not because of the s*x seen (I skipped this while reading) but because of how you can see MC's descent to "madness" as he became more and more withdrawn from the world.

Glad I could help. I just happen to read the novel (currently still reading). I just don't want people to miss out on a potentially good story, just because the first chapters leave a bad taste in some readers mouth. That's why I wanted to share some of my thoughts on the story.
Absolutely, im usually not a fan of toxic relationships for the sake of romance, but i read them no problem if they are a mean for the evolution of the character. Especially if i know they arent gonna end with Stockholm syndrome.
YES, this is exactly why I posted my thoughts and review here too! There were just so many comments on the abuse but almost none AFTER it, it was such a shame people never got to this part.
Real! It's getting tiring seeing comment like "Don't read. It's just rape and not a happy ending".
Just because there is abuse & it's not a "happy ending" doesn't mean that the story is bad. Sometimes the abuse is integral in building the character's personality or the conclusion of the story. And a "Happy Ending" for you doesn't mean a happy ending for the characters.
I don't usually rate & review a story, but it's just sad that the story's rating is so low, just because a few readers decided that it's not worth reading, and rate it without actually reading/knowing the whole story. Personally, if the story is not my cup of tea, I would just leave, because I never got to the end of the story, I never knew what the conclusion is.
I'm really glad there are people that gave their opinion about this.
