It looked sorta modern, brothels and prostitution are illegal, but still happen anyways.
I think it's an alternate reality sort of thing, set in modern times but prostitution has been made legal again.

to start this manga has really beautiful art work which for me makes it even better , the plot is maginificent its not like some yaoi mangas where the main characters fall in love at first sight and fuck after seconds this story keep you on a romantic suspence and the relationship between the main characters is awsome as well. Great yaoi manga over all would love for the story to continue but all good things have to end =)
