I FINALLY FINISHED IT. I WENT THROUGH SUCH A TREACHEROUS JOURNEY. OH MY GOD. this is rough. i think it’s because i starting reading it thinking it would be a comedy, but it very much was not. there’s a lot of emotions. this is like watching a tv show thinking you’re gonna be watching family guy but it’s actually bojack horseman. you have to be in the right mood for this.
it starts out fine, much like their relationship, but red flags that both the reader and characters see are addressed as the story progresses, much like an actual relationship. it’s not a clever story, like at all, but it gets its message across! pretty decent, i’d say a 6/10 purely because it was unexpected, but if i reread it it’ll maybe go up to a 7 or 8.

third time reading this and it never gets easier, but i just keep coming back. it’s so heavy and so depressing, but i feel hopeful at the end! i would be wrong if i say i LOVED this story, but it’s definitely one of the good ones when i comes to feeling for the characters and reflecting on your relationships with the people you love.

Can you tell me what happens? I stopped reading at ch. 41 and skipped to the end and am soooo confused. Did he end up with no one? Did both his partners/friends die?? The ending makes it sound like they’re gonna watch him from above aka they died. I don’t mind spoilers at all. Pls lmk, it’d be much appreciated

yeah this is kind of a spoiler

ending is sort of open but i think he’s technically with both of them, as it ends with them calling for him after work. you see their hands, and they’re also mentioned earlier in ch 81. everyone is perfectly fine! it takes place 3 years later, so our main character is healed, happy, and fulfilled. it’s a rough read because it gets heavy once the wife’s younger brother is released, but once you reach chapter 80 everything starts to solve itself.
read this in a day and all i can say is i don’t think ill ever be prepared to read it again it’s pretty agonizing and heart wrenching. Also grim. very grim. good ending but i think it stretched out too much for my mental capacity. the length for the story was good, but i couldn’t take it
