I'm shedding so many tears while reading about the kings thoughts, how selfish of him to take half the time he believes her to have left to live to try to alleviate some of his guilt he finally felt after 19 years. It took this long and for his child to say she was dying for him to have an ounce of care, and its stemming from guilt. He was right when he said he was a terrible father, she can't help who her mother is it wasn't her choice, and sure maybe you can't show outward affection because the mothers side will grow in power when they are an evil household, but none the less that is YOUR child, and helping from the shadows, showing affection in secret, being willing to show any ounce of care for a child whose all alone in a cut throat place like the palace would have been better then ignoring her because you don't like her mom. Im sure he will keep being his selfish self, because after all he did say he was not only going against what she hoped for the last few years of her life, but it was because he wanted to feel more secure in his selfishness. Sure he can say that its partly because people will be after her life and I get that, but thats what bodyguards are a secured home and territory are for. Sorry I just, im so frustrated.

Yeah I wanted to punch the dude when he made some silly excuse like “oh I should keep her here cause it’ll be safer.” With that psycho brother who sees her as an obstacle for the throne? I don’t know if the bro’s personality will be any different in this timeline, but HELL NAH that ain’t safe. It would’ve been safer to send her with some money far away where no one recognizes her. I can’t believe he feels guilt but can’t even respect her “final” wishes. Plus I’m sure some people that hate her would not be happy to hear that she’s still in line for the throne.

Agreed people that don't like her will be far more happy if she openly left, there is that fear that those that dislike her enough would harm her when she left but there are ways to make sure that doesn't happen. I don't know how much the king knows about his sons dislike for her and that its to the point of murder, but with succession that's always a possibility, even more so when its not just from a noble family but the family of the crown itself
Honestly I tear up sometimes because I am so frustrated, he didn't seriously value her until she got shot trying to protect him, he kept testing her to see what she would choose when she was threatened and said he'd send her away to a man who wanted to beat her even if he changed his mind later and she almost died with that crazy scientist guy, she's literally almost died so many times for him and there were times he didn't thank her or ask if she was okay. Yes he told her that if she said she didn't want to be sent to that guy whose sister was rejected hed stop it but in that time its the sevants duty to uphold their masters words which means not going back on them especially since that guy was of high status. Instead he didn't try to protect her from the guy until she nearly died protecting him. She's almost died so many times and honestly reading this sometimes can be so frustrating because I can only imagine what its like seeing a man you're slowly falling for going out and sleeping with all sorts of woman not caring and having to take their jealousy violently out on you for things that are out of your hands but completely because of him and being threatened and nearly murdered and the reason you survived was because you fought your heart out and ran for life then he eventually shows up to save you and its like ok thanks my white knight? No. I don't know. I understand the Duke doesn't have faith or much trust in others, but that doesn' mean continually almost sacrifice someone's life many times until you're finally lik ok they finally almost died again after so many times for my sake I guess now ill actually try to protect them from the harmful things they are going to keep going through because of me. Im sorry this is my opinion and I'm sure many disagree with me, but I don't think he can have any excuse for lindsy almost dying so many times for him before he finally decides he will put more effort into actually keeping her alive.

I see that the knight from her step brother doesn't like her and her step brother doesn't trust her but from what I saw she wasn't being mean, it seemed like quite an obvious warning since she knew he would get in trouble honestly I don't see her being mean at all or any examples of that, I don't personally think she has to apologize or make up for anything. Thats just my opinion. I don't like that she has to make up for stuff in the past, she was also a kid and children mimick behavior of their parents sometimes but honestly I think its too harsh
