For those questioning why Juheon felt, and still feels, so hopeless about their relationship, it runs deeper than just Dohu using him as source material for his characters. Dohu, especially in the beginning, is emotionally unavailable. Not because of trauma or because he's choosing to be; it's just his personality. From the beginning, he struggles with any emotion more complex than curiosity. He also doesn't seem to feel much empathy. If he had apologized to Juheon when first confronted about using him, things may have gone differently, but it still wouldn't have fixed the underlying issue: Due to his past, Juheon needs to feel love and acceptance with no strings attached, and the past Dohu did not have the emotional bandwidth to convey those feelings in a way that made Juheon feel safe. Dohu wasn't even sure of his own feelings for most of their past relationship. And when you're already feeling insecure and one-sided in a relationship, of course finding out the other person was using you in any way would be devastating.
Now they've met again, and Dohu is verbally conveying feelings the best he can, but in a nonchalant, unemotional way, because that's just who he is. And also mixing it with physical attraction that makes it seem less sincere. Obviously, Juheon is going to struggle here. He has trust issues. And he's already felt burned by this man before. But we all know Juheon still loves him, and is trying to protect him. So there's hope. It's a slow burn. But it's realistic.

Taeyoung is an absolute f*cking lunatic and I love it. May this totally unhinged love find me.
