"violence is never the answer" is such a naive stance to have in life, and so poorly conveyed in this story. i empathize with ao's fear shown towards asuka after getting kidnapped then almost raped, but to blame asuka for what happened to his family's store is insane. why didn't he get upset with the hirosaki clan for actually destroying the store? all the blame falls onto asuka, who was the only one to ever apologize and make peace when the hirosaki group broke his dad's leg, put a hit out on ao's sisters, falsely kidnapped him, attempted to rape him, then destroyed his family's store all because asuka visited the store frequently and resorted to violence after witnessing his crush almost getting raped. blame the people who started the cycle of violence, not those who respond. to top it all off, ao expresses gratitude, not for being saved by asuka no, for him apologizing and making peace with ao's attackers' group. the absolute tunnel vision one needs to come up with this sort of moral "dilemma" should be impossible. yakuza never resorting to violence is a bigger fantasy trope than animal characteristics.
