cuz i’m a whump fan too, not even gonna front. watching characters endure hell and then get loved on later is my fav type of angst, no shame. so having read this after the spoilers i’d seen it rlly doesn’t hold a candle to what ppl described, like i was expecting it to drag out a little more yknow? really run into those emotional landmines, cause some character regression that’s only overcome through lots of love and support.
on the other hand i can see why the ppl adapting the novel wouldn’t want to drag that out for too long. maybe it’s just me but the physical and emotional violence would be a complete tonal shift from the rest of the story. yeah there’s been a lot of emotional torment and some offscreen violence but having to bring that to the forefront for this arc wouldve maybe made the story a biiiit too dark. i do think they couldve found a nice middle ground but well. what can ya do.
