Ohhhh. That'd be a good reason. I knew he still cared about Chouno, because he made sure he knew to go to the doctor who'd take care of him. I thought Uncle got away because he got the warning, but in his current state he could've let himself get arrested, commit suicide, or let himself go down some other way.
My favorite part of this manga is how, at the dramatic moments, their faces will go blank like mannequins.
