I have a theory. Maybe the heroine is actually the main character's daughter? When the mc died her daughter ran after her right? Maybe she died too, with her mother

Omg that sounds so awkward...imagine competing against your own mother to get a mans attention. I think that would be too weird of a plot, so it's highly unlikely.
