I admit, I got lost for a while when the author started the first side-story, but now I really like the tangents. They're necessary to show the background of all the body parts that the devil is collecting for his Frankenstein/bride. It's beautiful, and horrific, and heart-breakingly sad.
If only the chapters weren't so damn slow to release, I could be more patient about waiting for the big picture to develop!
