this is kind of hard, beause previously we learned that Ollie's parents gave up on him for being too problematic, but now we found out that he is that way because his parents have never paid attention to him so this goes back and forth and the poor block is messing arround with other people and being a bad influence and... I don't know what to think of him anymore.
Like it's his fault but also not that much and no one is responsible for him so he's on his own and... he needs a hug and good spanking.
He feels good making others feel bad. He likes being "king." Instead of trying to get attention by studying hard or being friendly or at some other talent or activity, he decides to make himself feel better by hurting others and making them do what he wants. We can't blame that all on parenting. That is something inside him. And does he really "love" those guys, or he needs them. He needs them for power. I hope he gets a clue and changes....he's messed up.
Of course, he wouldn't be like this if he didn't have it in him already, even if his parents didn't pay attention to him.
but he could have been better if they prevented him from twisting so thoroughly. Also what right do they have to give up on him if they never really tried? that is not fair
the really sad thing is that he has no one that cares about him, so he has to learn on his own. and most likely that is going to be real though. when the people that should have taught him how to be a better person abandoned him from the beginning.
If he hadn't been a shit, he'd have had people who cared about him. And while his parents are clearly unfit and selfish, so is he. He is what they are--people who only think about what they want and their expectations and don't take time out to take care of others.
There are wonderful parents whose kids end up shits who are selfish and destructive. And shitty parents whose kids end up heroes and kind and generous. A person makes choices. He could have made the choice to be nice to the little kids and play games with them. He could have decided to be a good friend to Erika and his buddies and enjoy their youth and find comfort in their friendship. Instead, he gathered a posse to give him power.
I sympathize with the neglected child he was, but not with the bully he chose to become.
