I'm disappointed... yet I saw this coming.
It doesn't matter what manga it is; the uke is almost freaking ALWAYS at fault no matter how bad the seme screws up too. Just like in this instance where they both made mistakes, but Shingo and ONLY Shingo got called out on his BS because obviously Keiichi can do no wrong Even though Shingo's screw ups are actually justified by his trauma. It happened in probably all the previous volumes too but it was small enough to turn a blind eye (MAYBE), but this time... They made with the hot sex and Shingo got a ring, but where is the resolution of the conflict? Shingo STILL has major trust/abandonment issues. How did this help??? I'm not even gonna give myself the false hope that maybe there is more resolution to come because that would mean actually talking to each other, which means more fighting... after the resolution... which would be like butting a slope at the end of a roller coaster ride. It's unprofessional. I have absolutely no expectations for Keiichi being called out on keeping Shingo in the dark, treating him like a thing, going back on his word and abandoning him or even kissing another guy like it aint no thang. Meanwhile Shingo is guilty of simply giving up the fight in the face of seeming abandonment. Oh the shame. If it really does get hashed out then surprise surprise for me.
┗( T﹏T )┛ I never thought I'd say this but I really wish I never read this volume. Ignorantly believing that the last volume was the ending would have been way better. All this volume developed in half the readers was hate, anger and pity. Sigh. The disappointment is real.
THANK YOU!
No one could have explained it better. You're right in every word, and I'm grateful to have finally found someone who thinks just the same as I do. Seriously I'm completely disappointed with the story and sadly enough I don't hold any hope on it getting better, but since I've already read all of the previous work I'll see it through the end.
Even so, I feel really sorry for Shingo and I'm starting to develop a special kind of hate to Keiichi. All the story has portrayed so far is the meaningless suffering of the uke who is trying his best to surpass a long time trauma of being abandoned, while the other guy just sits there sulking for every single mistake shingo makes and unworthy receives the special effort shingo does every time.
Reeeeeally disappointing.
Okay, so I wrote this huuuuge theory a few messages below yours, but I'm super intrigued by everyone's thoughts on what happened so I'm sort of prowling this thread LOL. From the way I see it, I don't think the mangaka really wrote this story to place the blame on Shingo per say.
I think the HUGE underlying issue in all the volumes from the beginning to this very current one is that Shingo can't really bring himself to fully give everything to one person because he always has one small part of him that made him think he will be disappointed. So he grew up with the mentality of "I don't need anyone because they eventually leave anyway." I think Keiichi definitely knew about this issue somewhat because he brought it up several times in their other stories.
There was always some underlying tension because Shingo couldn't bring himself to trust Keiichi fully (even though he may not have realized this) and Keiichi knew/felt this. He might not have known the actual reason why, but he definitely felt that there was some kind of distance that they could never close no matter how close they got or how hard he tried to prove his love with Shingo. What this manga/volume/chapter did was kind of tie that loop to a close. They FINALLY have some sort of conclusion on the one issue that always seemed to be plague their relationship. It might not be the end to Shingo's abandonment issues (I mean, there's a possibility that it could manifest in other areas of his life), but I think it definitely help them close the gap that seemed impassable between the two of them. So the abandonment issue is finally resolved in the case of their relationship with one another because Shingo can finally admit to himself that he met someone he doesn't want to lose. He has grown so much as a person by doing this because rather than ignoring the problem, he's willing to face it now because his love for Keiichi is stronger than his fear of the unknown and the possible future of losing Keiichi/being disappointed in someone he loves again.
So yeah, what I think is that the mangaka didn't write this volume so she could specifically blame either character, but rather to show their growth as characters. Because Keiichi didn't PUSH Shingo to choose him (I think he was def pushier in the beginning of the relationship) and Shingo finally admitted he needed someone. So yay, character growth :)
Don't mind my crazy long run-on sentences loool.
I agree with you. It's not about knowing who is at fault or not. It's kinda disappointing to show how readers start to hate Shingo or Keichi while they loved him three or four chapters before.
The important thing is that Shingo finally admit his deep love for Keichi when he says "don't abandon me" or when he says he wants to be Keichi's number one. It doesn't mean that Keichi isn't at fault but in this story (all this shit is due to the fact he was obviously hiding something to Shingo) but I think he's more understanding than before. People forget he is a human and that he could be fed up with Shingo's hesitations. In short both of them aren't perfect.
I actually feel a little sad for Keiichi lol like i feel he's being misunderstood because he came off as "cold" and emotionless in this chapter when it's possibly because he's rather hurt that the person who should trust him most, his lover, actually didn't trust him enough to not cheat or whatever else Shingo thought. I would be pretty hurt if my partner's trust was so fragile in me. But hey, Shingo has his issues too so overall, they had faults and things happened - I'm just glad it ended up being okay. I was one of the Keiichi haters a few chapters back but I think as the story played out, I came to understand the two characters and their relationship better. I def think neither are at fault.
The way you say it is so GREAT, it's what exactly on my mind, but i can't put it in words. It's not about 'who is the one to be blamed' or 'who suppose to apologise' but it's about to solve the problem and be together again. If what happen in the story is the way they have to take to get the solution, then so be it.
If that was what the mangaka was trying to portray, she did a poor job IMO. Now Shingo looks like to have dependency issues instead and Keiichi just an uncaring jerk.
While the set up was good in many ways, Keiichi's behavior was just too troublesome and at fault, with his lack of need to know communication, that he just doesn't really seem committed to the raltionship himself anymore. Then when Shingo is in front of him, pouring out his heart, never a word of 'love' or even 'cherish'. Just about ownership. Not the same.
As for Shingo, he could have come to realize his feelings for Keiichi, without having to be so completely undone and, well, unmanned. He seems to have lost all pride and independance. Loving someone should not be total submission. And not just because you're afraid if you don't do what the other person wants, they'll leave you.
Now we have an owner and pet.
I think the rat is the one who got to enjoy the best orgasm in this story...... ( ̄∇ ̄")
