i'm seeing tons of hate for the uke but? i really like him. it's so rare to find an uke that is comfortable with his sexuality and sleeps around. all too often the ukes are 'pure' straight guys that are basically forced into a gay relationship. that trope is way to common and disgusting. so to have an uke that is almost flaunting his sex life, it's refreshing.
also, i completely understand his reasons. not that i agree with him, but i can see why he's doing it.
he's terrified of commitment. he's scared to have a proper relationship and he covers it up with a fake 'happy-go-lucky- personality and sleeps around to hide his loneliness.
his relationship wi the seme was never supposed to be more than fuck-buddies, but now he knows he's in too deep, and he's trying to back out before he gets hurt.
not that it doesn't make my heart hurt to read this, but :
1. the sex scenes are hot (and a lot of them you couldn't get from a normal couple)
2. The characters are actually complex and have personalities and reasons that make sense in that they don't make sense.
3. And the plot is actually interesting
All of the hate comments were making me so pissed, but after your comment you literally calmed my anger. Thank you so much for such a beautiful comment. I definitely agree with you. The typical PURE ukes are getting really boring from my perspective as well. I think that because of all of his actions he take
I totally agree with u. I don't get the hate I personally rly like this manga and has rly touched me in the heart? When I first started reading this manga I was like really angry at the uke and seme but with these upcoming chapters I have been liking it more and more. I like how the uke is not one of those innocent uke type guys but he is I think proud and comfortable for who he is but the relationship with the seme is messing him up? And I like that he fell in love with the seme but is afraid of being hurt (I can totally relate to that) and he thinks he isn't good enough. Anyways the manga surprised me and I have to say ur comment made my day (/^-^)/
The way the uke sleeps around is not healthy. He is doing that because he is hurting, he says himself 'I'm broken'. Not sure how you missed that. Maybe you didn't because in your comment you do say it's to hide his loneliness, how is that healthy? It's not making him happy and he's not comfortable. Really you chose a bad example as a mascot for sleeping around.
People are pissed because they feel bad for the seme being forced in that situation, but really they are both in pain, just the uke is inflicting it on himself. The uke will get over his issues and they'll have a healthy relationship. Probably monogamous. Really I don't understand why so many people want to defend sleeping around, it's obviously not depicted as a good thing for the uke in this manga.
Rant over.
No where in their comment did they say it was healthy. Only that it was refreshing to see a Uke that didn't follow the same "pure, innocent" trope.
And there's nothing wrong with sleeping around if that's what someone likes. It's their choice to decide who they want to have sex with and no one has any right to judge them for that. Just because one person is doing it for unhealthy reasons doesn't mean that it's unhealthy for other people. It just depends on the person's situation.
wow, this comment has gotten so many responses! i'm seriously in awe rn :)
i do agree that the reasons for the uke sleeping around are not the best. i think it's unhealthy to do anything as a form of escapism or lashing out.
however, lots of people escape their problems through means much less healthy than by sleeping around. a character with his emotional instability/vulnerability could have become a drug addict, an alcoholic or just plain reckless. especially in his profession, the amount of models/actors that develop eating disorders or addictions is pretty high, i think.
i honestly feel sad for people/characters that have obvious defense mechanisms like the uke does. as someone with more than their fair share of unhealthy coping mechanisms, i can seriously relate.
all that aside, i truly love this character! as i said in my original comment, he has an actual 'human' personality and is just so far away from the stereotypical norm that i can't help but love him!
honestly, so much of the hate he -and other promiscuous ukes like him- gets is just plain slut-shaming which is both sexist and pathetic. it's almost like the uke get's treated like a woman, just cause he's taking it up the ass, which is both homophobic and misogynistic.
ya'll just need to to chill out. if you don't like it, there are thousands of other manga you can read that caters to your ideal.
Thank you! It's such a double standard! The seme can be an actual gigolo/host or playboy and no one get's on his case!
Heck, sometimes the uke gets shamed when another seme forces him! literally slut-shaming an assault victim, like we don't get enough of that sh** irl!
like, if the seme is seen with another person, we just let it slide with a 'it's probably a misunderstanding' and 'the uke is overreacting' and the seme too, mocks his genuine concerns!
But if an uke hangs out with another guy, get's physically affectionate or is even taken advantage of, the seme get's all forceful and jealous and even the readers hate on the uke!
another trope that gets on my nerves is how the seme forces the uke and then says shit like 'you say you hate it, but your body loves it' like? so rapey! i love dirty talk as much as the next fujoshi, but sometimes i have to shut off my moral compass in order to read those lines.
i read some crazy shit, i will be the first to acknowledge all the incest and shota in my history and bookmarks, but just because i can shut off my common decency in order to read and enjoy this stuff, doesn't mean i condone it irl. so to see people in the comments being homophobic or whatever, i just get pissed off! we're here to enjoy ourselves in a fantasy world, no reason to get nasty!
Actually you know what the problem is, people are reading manga that THEY do not appreciate. If you do not want to read a manga that YOU do not want to feel annoyed with or hate (because of your personal preferences in a manga), why don't you just CHECK the tags and see if it says anything you are uncomfortable with. Of course, you will not know how the manga is until you read it, but still if you are not the 1st person to comment on the manga, you were literally warned of what will be in the storyline. So, I basically want to say that freedom of speech is always alright, but think about what you people did (whoever commented that b/c he is a slut you hate him) understand that this is your own fault for reading what you are hating on.
I personally love the manga and just wanted to say that no matter how much you comment that it sucked b/c of the uke, you were warned so suck it up.
I couldn't agree more! people who read something they don't like, just to hate on it are ridiculous! you had plenty of warnings available, but you read it anyways!
I mean, this should be pretty obvious but:
YOU'RE NOT GOING TO LIKE EVERYTHING YOU WATCH/SEE/READ.
that's literally impossible! because everyone likes different things and has different tastes/opinions.
some people like yaoi, some people don't
some people like slutty ukes, some don't
i often stumble across stuff that i don't enjoy, find offensive, or just borderline Hate, but i don't see the point of making any negative comments. i just realize that i'm not the intended audience, and move along.
hell, a lot of the stuff i like is just plain Wrong, but i still enjoy it, so i don't see the point in being an ass about stuff i don't like. that would be hypocritical.
i completely agree that people should be able to have their own opinions and they should be able to express their opinions freely. but doesn't that street go both ways? so when people go out of their way to be asshats i really don't get it.
you like what you like.
i like what i like.
let's all just move on already?
haha well we all do indeed have different points of view. I'm not slut-shaming, never have, but I didn't like the uke bc i just can't seem to understand him. sure, he's got almost like a phobia for commitment, but in my case, he doesn't need to hurt the seme more than he already has. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
I'm still looking forward for the next chapter though. I dislike the uke, but I love the angst of the story ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
this was one of the most confusing, detailed love ?triangle? plots i've ever read in a yaoi.... Ever. like i had now idea who was going to end up with who. the cringe (and laughs) were.... wow
honestly, i liked it. the characters were terrible, but that's what made it more real. because life gets sloppy and messy.
needless to say i really enjoyed this, surprisingly so.
10/10 for being not at all what i expected
Although the first story itself was pretty simple, the writer put in enough emotion to get me absorbed.
The thing that made me love this manga, though, aside from the rarely used "abusive ex" plot, was the seme.
So hot! He has to be one of the hottest I've seen! He's perfect! I want a continuation just to see him!
The second story was cute, but I want more of the first couple, or the S friend.
All in all, 4 stars!
This series deals with a lot of heavy content, a lot of real world issues that ppl don’t talk about, like rape, grooming, pedophilia and yes, LGBT content does fall under “stuff ppl try to pretend doesn’t exist.” Am I happy that they all got thrown in together? No. Did I find this series interesting, even though it made me uncomfortable? Yes, because sometimes stories are written to inspire negative emotions and that’s okay! If you can’t handle it, pls don’t force yourself to read it, but if you do read it, don’t hate on it. It was your own choice to read this, illegally, and for free.
