Its so well written, like the scene when he's like reverently saying Ripely, then later on when she telling him about her past and shes like I’m just Ripely, Aamazing!! I wasn’t sure at first about her faking a serious injury then I realized how important it was for her to do that! He was threatening to MURDER her!!! From Ripely perceptive everything about him must be a deeply confounding, her doing that terrible thing puts them on more equal footing in the ‘how much trauma can i inflicted on my loved ones scale’ ! When reading there were multiple times I was going to stop reading. Don’t get me wrong the art is beautiful, the writing isn’t great but I have read things with WAY less plot and translations can make small mistakes or flaws big...but I found it..unsettling?? Just the everything about it was slightly off?? I still not sure what it is that turning me off...the characters kind of act like the actors instead of people..idk?? I don’t think I’ll read the rest.
