A cosmic horror killed and revived everyone around you day after day and systematically changed the world over and over to torture you OR you watched too much horror and your brain is misremembering it after your head injury that left you with amnesia? I’m picking brain malfunction especially since I have glitches despite my brain being perfectly fine. He’s suggesting she’s got déjà vu in the extreme which absolutely could happen. Déjà vu works because your brain processes things it’s seen or experienced as an old memory being revisited rather than a brand new blank slate. It’s the same as accidentally adding a new telephone number to an existing contact instead of creating a brand new contact number. That’s believable and scientifically proven. I don’t blame her at all.
i totally get it like i’d probably believe him too but like it took him one scene, one diary for her to drop all doubts about him like i’d still be skeptical. if someone is offering reasons back to back as to why i’m actually crazy id be weirded out. how is she not weirded out. i just hope she finds out the truth eventually </3
No cause it also took ONE diary to make her doubt to begin with. He’s not even calling her crazy. He’s saying that her head injury (of which she’s still going to the doctors for) is responsible for all of this. You forget that we are omniscient readers so we get the whole story laid out for us but the actual character doesn’t. The MC just woke up from a traumatic accident in which she sustained massive head injuries that resulted in her amnesia. The man who cared for her stated he was her husband and gave her all the information to prove that he was her husband and he even minded his manners and helped her settle in without any pressure or a romantic or sexual relationship. He was a perfect gentleman and sure he had a weird shaped head but the doctor explained why it’s happening and a phone captured his face. There’s absolutely NOTHING that would suggest he’s actually a monster up until they have sex but once again she’s drunk WITH A RECOVERING HEAD INJURY and it makes sense for the alcohol to be affecting her wayyyy more than normal. Every single phenomenon she’s facing can be logicked (idk if that’s a word..) away with facts backed up by science. The only thing that’s not able to be twisted is her gut instinct but even then, more than 8/10ths of the time it’s non existent. If you were in her shoes and not as an omniscient reader, you’d be making the same choices and the same mistakes she is.
lowkey yea i see your point for sure, this just convinces me that mc will have to struggle before finding the truth. at this point i have no idea if mc will ever see the truth, like how do you win one over an eldritch god thing
I think she will continue to see the truth and then continue to ignore it and believe his explanations. I don’t know how this will end and I’m probably the wrong person cause I clicked on this for the tentacles and the indifference to human suffering and cause I find cosmic entities hot af but this is wayyyyy more meta than I expected.
