I wish more people have a similar perspective on life as Chloe does. Life is way too short to be unhappy, so it’s important to, or attempt to, find joy in everything. Of course, being a slave is horrible. But, she made a very good point that it’s not good to die in vain and be grateful for living in the present. (▰˘◡˘▰)

1. Remember the red head guy who tried to brand chloe as his slave? He’s engaged to the Dukes fiancé. Apparently, Clara might be into bdsm @_@
2. Trigger is gay and Aaron (the white haired butler in the beginning) are lovers.
3. The Duke has a sister
4. Chloe and the Duke have sex in a cabin They started to have sex after Chloe went on top of him, despite being naked, in bed.
5.The Duke is head over heels for Chloe. He constantly wants to be around her and is very protective of her.
6. Remember chloes shitty ex-husband? The Duke killed him and his body was stoned by the commoners.
7. Remember red haired guy(again)? When the Duke found out what he did to Chloe, he tried to kill him. But, Chloe stopped him.
8. The Duke has constantly felt regretful for what he did to Chloe when she was Beatrice. Before they got together, he told her that one of his wishes is for her to forgive him because he couldn’t forgive himself.
9. Chloe and the Duke have sex every night. The Duke is such a beast @_@. He straight up tried to have sex with her in a restaurant But, they eventually had sex in a carriage. Bruh, someone was cheering them on

SPOILER
Chloe’s identity gets find out by Evan (silver haired guy). He tells the Duke about her and identity, and boy was he shocked when he found out that she was a princess who he threatened to behead. He got even more shock when he found out they’re the same age. I don’t know Korean, but judging from the raws, I think Evan told the Duke chloes identity because he probably thought that Chloe was up to no good given the fact that she was the daughter of the traitorous king (something like that). He did look very frantic when he exposed chloes identity to the Duke. Towards the end of chapter 41, Chloe is all alone at night and some guy grabs her wrist while she screams. It could be the Duke or Evan.

It goes up to chapter 41. I read the novel, and it’s a lot different than the webcomic @_@.

I won’t excuse what Ruve did to Tia in the first timeline, but I am not going to sit here and talk shit about the ml if he isn’t doing anything to her now. Honestly, I wouldn’t have any issues with their outrage if Ruve continued to hurt Tia. The fact that people can’t see how the characters are different than the first timeline makes me think that a bunch of y’all were expecting a stereotypical nice, and fluffy shoujo prince of a ML. Also, the fact that I’ve seen more comments defending green haired boy than the ml really shows the selective outrage. Looool. He could imprisoned her and keep her away from her family for days, and some of y’all will still say “BuT hE lOvEs HeR!” Smfh.....Keep the same energy towards green haired boy if you’re going to keep shitting on blue haired boy. We’re over 100 chapters and y’all hatred towards the ML is getting so annoying. If we were still on chapter 5, then your hatred would have been justified. Drop the story if you hate him so much. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

I think people keep forgetting the fact that Chloe sees the good in everyone, including the ML. She doesn’t hate him, but she is [still] cautious and scared when she’s around him. Yet, she still sees some good traits in him. It’s obvious that the Duke doesn’t know why Chloe is afraid of him, but he doesn’t remember that she was Beatrice. For her being a slave, I was taken aback at how he has never mistreated her. Obviously, he threatened to kill her again, but that was because his favorite horse from childhood was going to get executed after accidentally hurting his acquaintance. He’s not perfect by any means, but some of y’all seem him as the devil’s incarnation or something. ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

Exactly. If anyone has ever read and watch historical Chinese/Japanese/Korean webcomics and dramas, they would know that Chloe is the luckiest slave (that sounds so bad, lol). So many royals mistreat their slaves like crap. If they didn’t treat them like crap, they just saw them nothing more as a slave/servant. It’s rare to see another important character(other than the MC) actually look at a slave as a human being and recognize their person. The Duke has a long way to go, but he’s making progress.

I think that this is one of the “ML who has had a bad past and treats/treated the FL like shit” trope done right. Chloe acknowledges that he has good points about him, but she also acknowledges what he did to her in the past. She doesn’t even fall in love with him or develops feelings for him as soon as he treats her right. Judging by the pace of their relationship, it seems like that it’ll take a lot more of the Duke to change if he wants Chloe to be with him. Obviously, the dukes previous actions are considered to be very horrible in today’s times. But, it’s like what @sara said about how royals treated each other back then. Overall, I’m really enjoying this webcomic. ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄

Honestly, what’s with people getting upset with Chloe for saying that he’s a good man?? I get what he did in the beginning was not okay and all, but It seems like she’s the type of person who tries to see the good in everyone and doesn’t hold grudges against people. For her to forgive someone by seeing the good in them, is a strong character to me. Plus, she suffered far worse from her family and her ex-husband, so it’s not a surprise to me that she said that he was a good man ( it’s a bit sad imo). ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

Exactly! She hasn’t justified what he did to her nor has tried to excuse his behavior. She was afraid of him to the point she avoided him as much as she could. She didn’t know why he attacked her and her servants in the first place (this was due to her ex-husbands behavior, so of course she’ll get scared by him due to first impressions. She has been with him for a while and he hasn’t once yelled at her, beaten her nor threatened to kill or raper her (unlike that redhead guy and her ex-husband) when she made mistakes or did something he didn’t like. I mean if I were in her shoes, I would start to see some good traits in him eventually.

Same. I felt this way since I found this webcomic months ago. Earlier, a lot of people kept saying the author is trying to justify the ML’s actions blah blah but I never felt like this was the case. I mean, he’s a Duke and his actions, for the most part, make sense given the circumstances. I don’t agree with it but it gave a more realistic vibe of how royalty works. And given chloe’s personality and circumstances, it made sense for her to see him as a good man.

Yes! I agree once again! Plus like you said he is a duke. If you take into consideration the era then he is a lot nicer than what he could be to everyone under him. If I were her I wouldn't really hate him. Her family only looked for her when they needed someone to marry that nasty pervert and just treated her as a chess piece and her good for nothing ex-husband was a really big piece of work. I think this webcomic is great and not only is everything full color but its wonderfully drawn. I am really enjoying it!

Sameeeeee! I Liked how it’s different from a lot of historical webcomics. For starters, I like how the author is using a controversial topic such as slavery in their work. I found it very interesting for Chloe to want to be a slave again and seeing the joy in slavery. Of course, she’s the exception and slavery is still horrible. ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍ But, it’s nice to see how a cheerful person like Chloe can LITERALLY see the joy in any shitty situation. I ain’t gonna lie but I would do the same thing. If I was a slave, I would be fine with it as long as I won’t get beaten, rape or abused whatsoever. I had an argument about another reader about the ML and I got bored arguing with them. I tried to explain to them that the Duke, who lives in a very patriarchal and rigid social hierarchy, is not going to treat everyone with respect. I tried to explain to them his behavior makes more sense given his circumstances. And, he’s not that bad. Sure, he still hates women and all but I’m surprised he never killed any woman besides her sister(?) and is treating Chloe pretty well. He ain’t perfect, but he’s getting better. ( ̄∇ ̄")
Life advice to teen girls and young women in their early to mid twenties who are reading this manga andare going kyahhh for Oya: NEVER put a man over your friends and family. Loving someone should never be at the expense of your family and friends who are very dear to you. That will come back to bite you very hard, especially if that man leaves you. Yuri will now have to live with the guilt of her actions because she basically told her family that she picked a man DESPITE his very dangerous lifestyle of a year or so OVER her family who loved her since she was born. There’s only so much mental anguish Yuri can take before she breaks down from being involved with Oya. Also if Oya truly loves her, then he needs to have a serious discussion with Yuri of not sacrificing so much of her life for him.
