I think what a lot of people missed is that one of the themes that has shown in this story is that rich people can’t harm each other. It’s been said several times that rich people and royals can’t harm each other because it’s not proper. Even when Lynn’s sister slapped Martin for abusing/mistreating Lynn, she straight up told him how lucky he was they were friends and was a noble. Even Elizabeth’s teacher couldn’t stop Elizabeth injuring Lynn because she’s not allowed to fully discipline or punish a nobel. The dad even told Elizabeth how very lucky she is that she was his daughter, implying that he would have killed her. Elizabeth being permanently sent away is the more proper punishment. We see this all the time in real life; rich people get away with their crimes whereas non rich people have harsher punishments.
Elizabeth wouldn’t have been twisted if you didn’t let her get away with injuring people. There are several ways to discipline a child, and we see this with Martin. Yelling at her does more harm than good. We know she’s afraid of her dad because she hates how he treated her. Of course, she’ll project her anger onto others because that’s the only way she knew how to express her anger. Her anger was very twisted and violent, and her dad emotionally neglecting her is the root of it all. I’ve seen this play out a lot with some children lashing out, getting in trouble, and destroying things just to get their parents attention. In short, Elizabeth wasn’t born evil. She was a hurt child who got away with hurting others because she never knew how to properly express her anger. With that being said…..she has shown signs of being sadistic. Typically, her violence would escalate to dangerous levels . I will say that she’s a grown adult, and Lynn was right that she has no one to blame but herself for getting kicked out of her house.
