She thinks that he developed it by being around the father and stuff. Like she thinks that him being evil is triggered by something later on, and by being nice, she can prevent him from turning evil
I think she thinks she arrived before he was "corrupted" so i think that's why she so hellbent on what she's doing to prevent him from being as dark as Ain in the novel was.
