This is going to be a long rant, so bear with me.

I feel like we've read far too many stories where sacred beasts with human forms have human reasoning that we're expecting the same here.

The author has done a wonderful job showing how snakes act? And we've constantly gotten reminders that at the end of the day, Zero is a snake. Not a human, a snake.

If a dog bites someone who playfully hit it on its head, you'd blame the owner for not training it right, wouldn't you?

Hwa keeps forgetting he's a snake, not her younger brother and doesn't acknowledge that for Zero, she was not, is not, and will never be an older sister.

Understandably, Hwa has other things to be occupied with, namely saving her family from the Bloody Sect, so it's not entirely on her that she fails to allocate separate braincells for training Zero.

But end of the day, Zero is a snake and is acting as a snake does. And Hwa is someone who is more concerned with saving her family than anything else. Neither of them are wrong in what they do. It's just shitty circumstances.

If you don't like Zero, or Hwa or any character, that's okay. That's your preference.

Just remember not to expect human behaviour from a beast just because other stories like this have that trope. Zero is quite literally a snake, no matter how human he looks, and he's never been taught how to be a human properly.

Again, this is in no way me saying you should like Zero. Just me asking you to change your perspective a little. Thank you.

They were LITERALLY COCK-BLOCKED AHAHAHAHAH, I can't with the cuteness and the hilarious scenes in this asdfghkkkkk

I saw the blond boy face down in the river and I really thought the author had decided to kill the younger brother jeesus, I was about to drop this series and go scream into a pillow

Ngl, kinda sad she got her burn scar fixed. I kinda wanted her to realize she was pretty, period, scar or no scar. I was glad that they showed her with the scars for all these chapters because that itself was a very good way of showing body positivity, but she got it fixed and she's the perfectly pretty fl again.
Of course, I do like her and the story, so I'm entirely invested, till the end, but I do feel slightly sad about it.

    Hot & Spicy June 1, 2021 11:21 am

I think she didn’t even care if the scar was there or not. She wanted to fix her vision, since she couldn’t see well and the scar that was healed was only an extra.

    Alex Park June 1, 2021 11:30 am

Yeah of course! I liked her attitude of not caring much about the scar in the first place!
More than her, I'm kinda sad because of the author's direction? Like, we were finally getting a FL who was not the usual subtle pretty face types but that's gone. Of course, not that the usual ones are bad or anything.
But either way, I like the story and I like the characters, and the author has done an amazing job so far, so it's not even a major issue, but I just feel a liiiiiiitle bit sad.
Personally, I'd like to see more dark skinned fls and MLS and leads who don't have to get rid of their scars to be seen as pretty by others, (and while we're at it, less of the Arabic/Persian derived characters becoming the second leads or villains). It's just because of my personal wish that I feel sad. Nothing more. This is just me lamenting because of that wish.

Same. Tho I get her and I also get why someone would want to fix scars, it’s amazing to make them your strength but sometimes they can remind u of things that u do not want to remember or imprints of people who you don’t want to have on your body. I think that would be also a good reason to fix a scar

Ah, you’re right on that. It’s a shame that the author seems to care about looks.
It gives the impression, that even if you are talented, but not good looking, then you don’t have a chance in life.

But about the dark skinned characters, I don’t think there will be many MC that are of different race, other then White and Korean.
All the popular manhua webcomics are made by English non-speaking Korean authors. They don’t have the insight into certain cultures so I think it will be a long time before we get a good webcomic with a dark skinned MC. We have to wait till someone of that certain race, with full understanding of their environment makes a very good novel/webcomic, that will become popular. Which might be along time, because currently there are very few black/brow/white artists. Most of popular webcomic artists are asians and the majority of the market is controlled by the Japanese and Koreans.

True true. I've only seen few mangas/manhwas/manhuas/webtoons that have managed to have decent dark skinned characters and most of them are minor characters or villains. Other races have a long way to go for a proper representation. I mean it's not just with these works right, even most Western shows/comics don't portray other races properly. So we do have a loong way to go.

I just hope that lesser works would portray scars and blemishes as imperfect? The person before had a point,if it's something that the person themselves considers traumatic or doesn't wish to have ,of course they have the right to get rid of it. But it's sad to see most authors chose this route, because personally as someone with some scars and no means of being rid of them, it becomes a little discouraging when most of the works I read/watch portray them as some obstacle to reaching full potential.

Anyway, the wholeass rant of mine was an extremely personal viewpoint, and I'm in no way criticizing the author or anything. Just wanted to express that little sadness I felt seeing yet another work choosing to go down that route.

That’s what I think as well. It’s rather a shame. But I understand those authors’s mentality. East Asians have a habit of body shaming like it’s a normal thing to do. Especially the older people, they can be very nasty with their comments. In Korea it’s especially bad. They can casually tell you, that you should get a double eyelids surgery, or get a surgery for this or that, like it’s normal. In a job interview, they pay more attention to your looks, because everyone are overachievers, so they hire based on how good looking someone is. It’s f-up and honestly sad

(Srry pressed post on accident ;0; ) and cultural appropriation isn’t even a thing that people are taught in Asia bc... the countries do not have much diversity anyways lmao. It’s definitely an important part of American culture to be aware of other ethnicities and cultures but ... wtf are u gonna say to a person that comes from a country where they barely see other races anyways unless they want to be popular internationally or something

See I wouldn't even be this bummed out about Hari and Eugene if the entire focus of the first half of the story wasn't about family. They're built up as a family, and how they get over their grief together as a family, and how they're all trying hard for their family, and now we're expected to believe Hari and Eugene have romantic feelings? Hari's entire motivation in the previous timeline was to be accepted as a family to the three brothers and all of a sudden they grow up and one of the brothers is her love interest? At least if being a family wasn't a core part of their motivations, I wouldn't mind this couple, but after all that and coming so far, this pairing makes no sense to me...
