she is reborn countless times and suffers horrible fates in each reality. in one, her third life, aka after the birth of her baby, ilya had an outburst at the tea party where she screams and begs to see a glimpse of her babys face. everybody judges her eventually people believe shes crazy. shes sent to her room, which her father outfitted with metal bars on all the windows. one night when shes dreaming about holding her baby, a black crow (which is extinct) flies into her room and starts talking to her. later on in the story we find out that hes a magician that was cursed by his father to live forever (a complicated thing tbh, but basically hes lived a really long time and looks young because the curse was cast when he was five-ish. he looks twenty but with a young face.) ilya tells him her story and they become acquaintances. over the course of her third life they get closer and he asks her deep questions until one night he goes to far and they get into an arguement. he leaves on bad terms with her and regrets it later on. so the next day he decides to meet her face to face because the entire time they talked, he flew through her bedroom window and was kinda unproffesional. so he brought her her favourite coloured flowers and walked through her front door as an actual guest. on that same day, sylvia becomes pregnant and she and her husband both tell ilya together. after that confession ilya takes her own life. crow finds her body and blames himself. this event causes crow to create this spell that allows him to traverse realities to find ilya. and we go through countless realities. of you want more lemme know because it gets a little more complicated from there. also her fiance is still a bitch towards her but ig its against his will in a sense according to a chapter where we see his POV. and even though sylvia is innocent in a way shes still a boyfriend stealing hoe in my eyes. ╮(￣▽￣)╭ also shes a literal princess but more on that if you want me to.

More on her sister sylvias backstory. Sylvia is a literal princess. Theres a fantasy story that was popular at the time ilya was attending school. It was about a runaway princess and her knight. Eventually they fall in love and elope but because she was a princess she has to return to her country. She loved the knight so much, she refused to let anyone have him and decided to make him marry her trustworthy hand maiden. Who had to runaway with the princess. Years later when the knight gets status in the new country, he and the hand maiden give birth to a girl. That girl was ilya. The knight didnt love her because he wanted a child with his love. By chance a few months later the princess sneaks out her kingdom to visit him and she has a child for him as well but she still needed to go back. That child was sylvia. The handmaiden throughout the years had fallen in love with the knight and had to endure months of lonliness when the princess came. She could not let the princess or the knight know she was in love. She gave up her life and home for the princess and felt betrayed but still fulfilled her duty. Because of her loyalty she carried out all the orders the princess gave. Another one being to protect and love sylvia as her own. Tjis was the start of ilyas mistreatment. And then, we all know she got engeged and that was the reason they needed to not gaf about ilya at all. They gave sylvia all the love and made sure that ilya beat the books. Sylvia had a weak body but it wasnt weak enough to make her bedridden and ill. We later find out that the actual reason sylvia was 'weak' was because the mother was poisoning her medicine. The medicine she offered to create herself. Ilya found this out because in one of her lives, she almost drowned in a bathtub which allowed her to access some past lives memories that she blocked out because of trauma. In the memories she was a prostitute after she ran away and was thought to be a slave. Crow found her in a bad state and bought the most expensive medicine he could to prolong her life. The doctor that administered it told him while she was being treated that this particular medicine was good for people that were already ill but could paralyse and in most times kill someone who wasnt. ( also in that life frow helps her personal knoght find her and take her back to her sisters side. Because she ran away sylvia replaced her at the wedding and now she was a marchioness with two children. Ilya died watching the happy family.) Now back to after she came out the bathtub. She was bedridden and her sister offered a vial of her medicine. She accepted and recognized the smell. Thats when she remembered that her mother made all the medicine sylvia used. The next day while sylvia was at school. ( IN THIS REALITY ILYA BEGGED HER PARENTS TO LET SYLVIA ATTEND THE SAME SCHOOL AS HER AND HER FIANCE. SHE WAS SO HEARTBROKEN ABOUT THE SAME EVENTS HAPPENING EVERYTIME SHE JUST DECDIED TO SPEED UP THE PROCESS AND NOW THERE ARE RUMOURS ABOUT HER FIANCE LOVING HER SISTER MORE THAN HER.) she took all the vials and confronted her mother who, when she realized she ws found out slit her throat and in her last dying breath said that she never loved ilya.

Alright part three. Remember how the motherkilled herself? Well because of the evidence at the scene, everyone assumed that ilya had killed her mother and stole her sisters medicine out of jealousy. No one cared for her and we fast forward to the funeral where no tried to comfort ilya and instead coddled sylvia. Even her fiance and dad were wary of her around sylvia because they thought that shed hurt her as well. It began to rain and slyvia decided to comfront ilya about her vials. She didnt know it was poisoned. When ilya didnt answer her about why she topk them, slyvia began to tear up and people rushed to help her. My recolection is spotty here but i remember ilya started to loudly question god and everyone and cry about her circumstances. Then from the sky black feathers fell and in crows pov, we see that he used up most of his magic to reverse the time in her current reality to save her from her misery as best as he could. He reversed the time to the mlment where ilya realizes that there was a knife in her mothers hands with her back turned. She wrestles her mother to the ground and in that moment she gets stabbed in her arm. But she doesnt realize this till her father confronts all the people present about the matter. The noise of the scuffle alarms a maid outside ( this maid was ilyas childhood maid who took care of her since birth. She was the oldest and best maid in the manor and her mother made the maid stop taking care of her and start taking care of slyvia unofficially. That means that the maid just stopped doing her duties for ilya. Fast forward to the day ilya drowns in the tub, WHICH IS THE SAME TIMELINE AS THIS ONE, the maid vegins to feel guilty about her behaviour and tries to get closer to ilya. At this point ilya doesnt care about human relationship and is only being 'nice' to keep up appearances. This maid was the one who helped save her life after nearly drowning and also begged her father to not persecute her after the situation with her mother. In her mothers room. Ilya is left on the floor bleeding out but no one helps her. When her father asks what happended, against her mothers wishes exposed what she tried to do. Because she did that in front of the maids and head butler, her father punches her in the face. Her lips burst and thats when she realized she was bleeding. There was a doctor present but they made him tend to slyvia, WHO WASNT EVEN ILL JUST SCARED. The dictor told the maid that if he didnt tend to her she wouldnt survive but the dad didnt care. Sulvia came into the room without permission and shouted for someone to help ilya.

WHY SLYVIA WAS KILLED AND BY WHOM.
HER RELATIONSHIP WITH HER PERSONAL KNIGHT AND THE CROWS BACKSTORY BUT I CAN COVER ALL THOSE POINTS IN ONE MORE SECTION. THE BOOK ISNT COMPLETE YET SO THE ENDING WOULDNDT MAKE SENSE RN
