I love this. From 'we've been best friends for forever' to
'I can't believe you took my girl (make her happy)' to
'What? she played him the same way she played me?' to
'Now that we've both been played by the same hussy, we're even; hard feelings canceled out,' to
'We've been best friends since forever.'
I don't see bromance here. I see a friendship, but it's not your average friendship. These guys will be meeting up on the beach with wife and kids in tow just so they can bump knuckles and say 'remember when?' So cool!
... It's not going to be. The author offers an exanation here - http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/billion_girl/mf/v10/c036/70/
I'm finding the story interesting. The art is not the best I've seen, but it is better than anything I could do, and more than adequate to convey the plot. The one thing that I'm finding moderately confusing, however, is the fact that we don't learn anything that doesn't come out of a character's mouth. That means, outside of the dragon mounted Thieves' Guild, we have no knowledge of national borders, political organizations, government structures or any of the other things that help you understand the societal structures where the story takes place. Who gave Gina the authority to evaluate potential Dragon Riders? Is it a post or occupation? Who authorized and issued the wanted poster? Is the Thieves Guild and openly recognized organization everywhere, or just in the forest? What is the structure of the society our MC lives in? I think I would enjoy the story more with a few of these borders and authorities delineated, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see what they are as the characters reveal them.
One of the few adaptions I have compared to the novel. Of course, it was impossible to illustrate the book*exactly*, but this one stayed truest to the original of those I've read... until the last chapter. That's where the most noticable changes were made, and, like the other adaptations I compared , they were improvments on the existing story. I'm coming to respect manga artist's ability to take some creative liscense and tweak the stories to make them even more enjoyable.
I just can't properly appreciate a boy who can lie with a smile, even if he's cute... maybe especially when he's cute.
