Falling for your fwb is like falling for the plug, it is NOT that easy to just completely change a whole dynamic. There are so many what ifs, and you begin to yearn for something that hasn't even changed yet. If you confess there's no more comfortable silence, no more fun little meals, tender caresses, secrets just whispered between the two of you. I understand that this is just writing and it's OBVIOUS that they'll end up together, but I completely understand the anxiety these characters face about permanently changing their dynamic and adding a label to something that could potentially end in the loss of the one thing that was keeping you afloat. I love the sheer amount of thought that goes into this work and the characters and the realistic reactions that occur. Its one of very few that resonates with me as an adult and doesn't just feel like generic romance for teens with some sex thrown in
