Oh, now I get it (I think) - still, same person. Good question though, but I think it is probably down to the treatment of servants etc. was not deemed essential (as so many other similar stories point out), so that side would not have been shown. So in short: the story between main characters and the smex. So unless the story elaborates on this, I will assume you are spot on :)

I think it was probably a case of perspective and author bias. The Og FL had everything go her way in the book and her scheming was hidden by her two faced nature and the lack oc any real road blocks.
The readers couldn't have known what the princess was really like without the opposition that revealed her psycho nature. Even now she puts up a decent charming act while scaring the pants off those who actually know her.
