it kind of is exactly like big bro says - she's being pretty selfish. it'd be 1 thing if the engagement was already there or if it happened after she was already playing mute or even if the point of the story was to have her grow up and realize she needs something more long term to fix her problems but, judging by the title, its just meant to be selfish to get out of the engagement and if its to a prince....their WHOLE family could basically be seen as lying to royalty and COULD get the guillotine for that kind of shit! I mean shes not really lying to the royal family, shes lying to her family. Also it's not selfish, her brother is acting like marrying the prince is going to be her friggin golden ticket to happiness and she knows its not. Her siblings are happy out there in high society and she finds her happiness in books. The fact that he is pushing his ideals onto her is selfish.I understand what your trying to say about the consequences and all that, but she isn't engaged yet and talks about engagement haven't even been opened yet. Currently she has nothing to do with the prince so saying she is lying to the royal family is a bit of a stretch. Now did she think things through? No, what happens when there is an emergency or she has to pretend in public at a tea party or something? But also she is 14, barely a teenager and she seems a bit naive she isn't thinking about all of the possibilities. All she knows is that she doesn't want to stop reading books when she is older, and her family is not supporting her, and her bro is going out of his way to lecture and stop her.

this is Inuyasha all over again. I'm not talking the story writing. I'm talking abt the relationship. If you are with someone who constantly, CONSTANTLY treats you like trash, calls you names, talks smack about you and HITS YOU - saying "oh I do it because I kind of like you" it does not excuse or give them the right to treat you like this. It would be worse if it was all one sided, so I'll give it that, but its actually some how MORE ignorant because instead they BOTH do this to each other but then the story keeps insisting on framing it like "they really do all this because they actually SUUUUPER like each other! sqweee". What you ACTUALLY have here is a fri-enemies situation at best and if this story were trying to get THAT across it would actually be REALLY smart. but its not. its selling people the idea that this girl totally deserves this guy and that this guy totally deserves this girl who treat each other like enemies on bad days and something to try and beat and look down on on a good day. maybe even if the story had them GROW UP as they actually grew up this could've been saved but as is, it just encourages more people to be accepting and excusing of why its "okay" if the person they are with is a "little rough" w/them because they're "just shy" or "bad at expressing their real feelings".

I know there'd be like rules that would prob come up w/regards to therapy and VR being used for therapy but I just kind of feel like one of those rules would likely be not stalking your patient from inside the actual game unless you were supposed to use the VR program as a side by side kind of treatment to begin with. we all know he's just going to turn it down like he's done all other proposals so far so that he can continue his quest. only way this'll b a 'cliff hanger' is if he actually DOES accept. but then they'll need to have a pretty good reason (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜
