I know that Jeanette is just a silly, young girl that we're supposed to feel sorry for, but her motivation doesn't make any sense. She longed for a family, okay, but like... she had one already? The duke family? Saying that “Oh no it wasn't her real family, they're not blood-related” is so damn stupid. It's like saying that adopted children cannot love their foster parents just like their biological parents, because they have different blood. Family is about the bond not about lineage. She had a thoughtful father and a caring brother, so why was she so interested in the royal family? Okay, let's just say that she was always told, that the king is her father, so she was unable to find her place at the duke's estate. But then, the idea that if she gets close with the princess and the emperor they're gonna be a real family is just plain stupid. She gets in their way, makes the atmosphere extremely uncomfortable, and thinks that everything is completely fine. Cause they're a “family”. I can explain her actions when she was a naive, stupid child, but Athanasia is about her age, and she's basically ruling over the entire kingdom. Meanwhile, Jeanette hasn't changed in the slightest. And she has the guts to blame Athanasia for not accepting her as a family right away? For not telling her the secrets of the royal family? For not fucking “greeting her” when the country is falling apart? And on top of that, when her real father shows up, she swallows everything he says! But why? You already had a father. Even two - the duke AND the emperor! She needs to realize that it doesn't matter that the late emperor is her real father. He's just using her for his own benefit. If she's gonna be like “Omg, but he's my father! He would never do such a thing to me!” in the next chapter I'm gonna lose my fucking mind.
Athanasia is not same ages she remembers her past life so her mental age is more mature, if they were actually same age, and athy didn't know anything, we all now how it would end - she would be killed off.
And I don't think comparing Jeanetta's situation to that of an adopted child's is right because she was never expected as an actual part of the family, the duke made that clear, she knew she was with them only temporarily until she got to her real family, she didn't even consider duke's son as a brother (why else would she think they would marry each other). And literally how is she supposed to release she is being used when absolutely nobody ever tells her the full truth. And even the duke (yeah he is being controlled but she doesn't know that) who, she really trusts, seems to trust this new guy so of course she would trust him too. Especially now when he says they can finally be a true family
Okay but why make it obvious that the ML is bisexual if it doesn’t matter at all?
