In the anime yes..the game is a bit more open ended so you can view it as he died or lived.
Well, if you want happy ending, then watch movies. Second one has a very different ending than the anime.

Are you thinking of Hakuouki, the art and characters are similar but it's a completely different story.
no i've seen Hakuouki even though i don't like cause they all end up dying in the end which made me die on the inside

Apologies on their behalf, but if you were planning to watch, it was a pretty bad anime. Unless you enjoy dumb main characters and angst for rooting for her to end up with a side guy, by all means, no judgement. It just thoroughly disappointed me, personally. I mean the fact that it's a reverse harem anime... gives off so many signs as to what type it would be. The otome game, however, was a chipper. (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
Otome game huh? I've played so many ninja otome games it's not even funny, and hakuoki was sorta getting a typical, cliche, otome game vibe. Now i know why. It is an otome game.
uh Hakuouki is a pretty good otome game, in my opinion. I do agree that the anime is not as good it should be, the anime consisted of all of sad/bad endings.... In the Game the characters are more developed too, so if you think the anime is crap then u should try the game ;) it worked for me :)
