So I see many comments with people bothered that the two characters are cousins. I don’t really know about the author’s motive for that but I think people in general are a little ignorant because there are certain countrys and cultures where marriage between cousins is totally normal and not considered « incest » at all so this in general can be pretty offensive for some people... but I can understand for cultural differences ╮(￣▽￣)╭
Also, they are guys so inbred babies are not an issue. That is a big reason close cousins are no longer allowed to marry in my country anyway. The birth defects.
Yea I think that would be the main reason but in my country this has never been an issue tbh.. and I’m not sure how much of the population this affects but I’ll guess not much. I have cousins in my own family married and they have healthy kids so ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

Yeah, maybe a hundred years or hundred and fifty years ago it was a thing. When people didn’t travel too far and you only had the people in your town to marry. I think my great-grandparents who were Japanese we’re close cousins.
Ok, let me tell you about my own culture (as an example), people here who are very traditional decide for the marriage of their children, they wish that their child marry his/her cousin (bc of many reasons). On the one hand, some marriages are forced and leads to unhappy marriages (they get married when they are 18, the legal age, but they didn't know what they were doing at the time, so yeah), on the other hand some families just wish for it, they don't force it, but still it becomes really awkward between cousins because they either really are confused (they may fall for each other in some cases!) or they have no other choice but to tolerate their families. However, nowadays this tradition is not really popular even for traditional families, cause it is believed if your child gets married to another family other than yours, it means your family gets bigger which is a good thing. Thank God.
I just want people to marry the one they love! Even if yhat is your cousin or whoever. Hopefully the science can help to have healthy kids, but I am not very informed about this matter, (if all illnesses can be detected in the dna, etc)!
I bet my parents would never want me to marry one of my cousins, even if it was on our culture because of the way my family is....ugh... sometimes is not about tradition only but also the fact you can choose your friends but you cant choose your family....
