It is true that violence breeds violence and that there are consequences to every action. My problem is that the other gang chose violence first when they beat up Ao's father and then chose it again when they kept Asuka and Asahi around to protect themselves by kidnapping Ao and almost raping him. I'm honestly not sure how much talk and negotiating they would be willing to do since it wasn't their first option to begin with. Sometimes violence to breed fear and respect is a necessary thing in the yakuza world, but Ao is not from that world. He and his family are a loving and non-confrontational bunch. They lived like that their whole life. They have no means of protection if things go south especially being herbivore, and you can say well Asuka can help, but yakuza have there own politics and Asuka is still a youngling. Not to mention Asuka is really from the next town over. This isn't really even his turf, he could honestly really be starting a war that his family may or may not be able to finish seeing as they are just getting back on their feet really. It's a shitty situation either way. I don't find Ao annoying though, the author really has them between a rock and a hard place and I'm not really sure what they want the answer hereto be: Having Asuka find alternative non-violent ways to deal with the opposing gang, or having Ao realize that if he wants to be with Asuka violence as a means for protection isn't violence for violence sake.
