This story was ok at the beginning but the character development, especially when it comes to the ML is what’s saving this for me. Even the FL is not as annoying as she used to. I’m actually interested in how they’re going to solve this and I’m rooting for the main couple. Aspeth is still a bit of a psychopath but with the background he had, who wouldn’t lol. Instead, he’s turning that vicious nature of his against people that actually deserve it. The fact that originally he would have killed his butler but in the last few chapters ended defending him says a lot.

So this webtoon is a bit of a mixed bag for me. While the protagonist is cute, I feel like she’s not as interesting or the story isn’t as interesting. Also it might have been the initial translation but the story is a bit hard to follow? Also really uncomfortable that a 10 year old child is almost being flirted with by all these older boys. The fox wasn’t so weird but the other two are a bit inappropriate. We’ll see if the story picks up.

Hmm.. I read the manhwa and the novel simultaneously (when it got lisenced in my country, i started to read the novel in kakaopage korea, too). I also think about some plotholes and inconsistencies (but I hope that the novel author will release some side stories, and the manhwa artist already promised to add original side stories based on the other characters)
There are some modifications in some novel scenes in the manhwa, but it's pretty faithful to the plot. I noticed that the manhwa artist put some hints for the 2nd and 3rd season in this season but it is not mentioned in the novel Chapters until much later. The biggest change somehow usually related to Bellerophon's scenes loool
(The most noticeable hints are : black magic circles in the punishment room, Aslan's future weapon -a legendary sword-, Galatea's portrait and hints about her race, Aslan's mother early debut, adult Abel's back appearance)
To put it briefly, the season 1 is like an introduction part where Maybelle started her new life as Rykell's daughter and future archmage. Plus some info about the convenant with the emperor.
The 2nd season is the escalation of conflict, and the 11 y.o Maybelle learned everything (the reason why Galatea was killed, Rykell's role in the empire, bellerophon's cursed fate) and making friends. Rykell will makes his move in this season. He will unite the other archmages to his side.
Maybelle will be a decent fighter in 3rd season (she is 14-20 y.o, 2 time skips). She helps Rykell in his agenda, while sharpening her ability to be an archmage and grow up as a young woman. And the romance start in this season. The peak of the battle against the antagonist is in this season, too.
The story using Maybelle's POV, maybe that's why the informations scattered everywhere

yes. Child and Adult Maybelle is different . Child! Maybelle usually spent her day eating cakes and learning magic, while teenager & Adult Maybelle accumulating field experience in battle and socializing with different races (unicorns, The children from Kan & Abel's hometown)
Adult Maybelle is more coherent and she learned a lot so the information and progress mostly done in 2nd and 3rd season.
Maybelle is unstoppable once she get out of that inferiority complex, and she is greedy for knowledge lol . not only magic. Once she get a romance book, she will want to experience it and Rykell almost blown up a mountain when he found out that his colleagues gave dating tips to his daughter

Lol I’m still halfway reading the story and I don’t know if this changes in the future but she is so focused on that magician’s prophecy that she’s always making things worse. I actually think that magician seriously traumatized her and this is her way of coping with things. Half of the time, the situations and reactions are funny but the other half are really frustrating because she doesn’t come across as smart as I actually think she is.
Also this might be more of a Korean webtoon thing but there is so much internalized dialogue and she barely communicates that it’s becoming frustrating. The only thing I can think of is her experience with the magician was so damaging that she doesn’t even realize how much that is hurting her. On the other hand, maybe the predictions might be actually true so she does have to struggle more in order to survive. She just assumes waaaay too much!

This is hands down one of the best stories in this genre. There is a tragic background for the FL but there is so much hope and a beautiful journey to finding yourself after abuse and torture. This story does not glorify abuse and puts emphasis on a society that abuses women and those without power. It talks about heavy subjects but through the protagonist we can see hope and change, even if small.
Chapter 37 made me cry so much. You don’t see these type of subjects on a manga/webtoon with a “shoujo/romance” tag but this is a hidden gem that deserves more attention. There is a very settle and slow romance subplot that it’s taking its time to cook but the main story will keep you hooked and you won’t be able to stop cheering for the protagonist.
The ML is also really cool and supportive in a way I haven’t seen many romantic interest do. Well there is a potential of a love triangle but I don’t know where that will go. Regardless give this story a chance. It’s one of the best ones in here on this genre for sure.
WHAT THE HELLLLLLL. POOR AKIHITO.
