Nobody from what I've read seems to be talking about the fact that if the kids go to the palace, they will still be in danger. The FL is a commoner that happened to catch the attention of the emperor. She's not from a fallen house, not part of the nobility, so her kids would be seemed as illegitimate children by the nobility. And don't forget about all the lady's wanting the empress seat, they will want to kill the 'commoner who doesn't know her place' and probably have the kids assainated so their kids can have the throne. Either way, the kids life will be in danger.
