It's the fact you aren't treating gay people as gay people. If he wasn't gay you would have accepted (with sadness) of his sacrifice. To you a gay character is something just to add representation NOT to actually be in a story.
Yes to the the sacrifice part, no to everything else. You're reading too much into it. I said it cause it's disappointing that he died since there was so much build up to him having happiness in the end. I wanted him to have happiness.
I said it more like, why get my hopes up that he'd be happy, and him him being gay or not wouldn't have changed the story much anyway.
