I saw the spoilers about him ending up with the FL and the truth behind what actually happened in her past life and it ticked me off so much
If the author decided to make the young him nothing like his future self (yet) then okay that makes sense
And if she wanted the FL to forgive him and move on with her life then sure go for it

If what happened in the story was real life then I wouldn’t have a problem with it but no this is a fictional story that someone created. The author could’ve taken the story so many other ways but chose to let the FL go back to the guy that once treated her worse than trash. I understand that’s not who he is in this life but that doesn’t change that fact. I think her forgiving him and maybe even becoming friends was fine but I can not support the author’s decision of making them get together again.
