I was thinking more about having feelings for someone and losing that interest when realizing they're trans, that'd be a bit weird... I mean, maybe think of it as being attracted to a cross dresser without knowing their true gender/sex and then when you find out you just go " Oh. Okay " . To some people, the gender/sex is important as they can't change what gender/sex they are attracted to.
So for trans people, it's like finding out that you can't bring yourself to be attracted to them sexually despite being okay emotionally. (Not true for everyone of course, some people are more flexible than they initially think they are)
Not all trans have gender reassignment surgery, and for some people, the sexual organ is important to them. Like a person may call them self straight because they like dicks/vagina and if that is not present in a trans male/female; they aren't able to maintain attraction. (Or a mariad of factors, people are more complex than this)
