Kids, why do y'all not using terms like seme/uke anymore? I saw youngsters nowadays use ML/MC, referring to top/bottom, like what's up with that. You guys read Korean stuff so much, so want to avoid Japanese terms? Or is it just simply cause it's shorter? Enlighten your big sis pls
Easier to type and also times are changing. Such roles are kinda dumb. They may be characters but they are meant to be people. They should have personalities and lives out of being just the top or the bottom. Such rudimentary roles are soo old fashioned.
ig they're just using the terms depending on what kind of story they're reading? for example, if i'm reading a manga, i will use the terms uke & seme, and if i'm reading a manhwa, i will just call them top & bottom.
Ignore people who use ML/MC in yaoi , since yaoi is particularly not real people so there is no need to see them as real people , nowadays youngsters are idiot who feel that taking fictional seriously is right most of them are delusional i still use seme and uke cuz I m straight girl who just simply enjoy MxM relationship on fiction.

Girl it’s not that serious (⊙…⊙ ) how are you calling people with preferences idiots lmaoooo you can’t even use proper grammar
Tbh I flip between the two.. for no reason. Maybe ML/MC is easier because the uke isn’t always the MC. But for me it’s just not that deep. Same with Yaoi and BL. They are interchangeable imo. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

Facts. Even though they are fictional characters, creating individuals with the sole intention of fulfilling a sexual role based on your perception of what they should look like or do is just weird. It's weirder if you refer this to real ppl calling them uke or seme.

The fuck ? Eat some cake and relax a little lmao it's not that deep Seme/uke just has a fairly old connotation, it's normal that someone who reads today's Korean stories uses other terms
I usually use MC/ML when I’m talking about a straight story and top/uke when it’s a BL. However I didn’t realize people were so interested in this topic
"Uke, seme" makes me feel as though I have to distinguish between the characters in order to classify them as either top or bottom. It does give the impression that one is limiting the characters to either the "bottom" or the "top," which is rather stereotypical. For example, feminine one = uke masculine one = seme. In these situations, I would rather refer to the characters as MC and ML. Non - yaoi manga or manwhas would refer to their characters as FL, ML, or MC; only yaoi use "uke" and "seme," making it strictly used in yaoi only. It feels as if I am fetishizing the character's in some way. Though "seme" and "uke" are yaoi/bl terms,. And honestly, it's fiction. People should use whatever they prefer.

Ppl do use it lol. At least what i seen from tiktok and real life cus i had an old friend who would use that term on guy who she ship with. And I do agree with top/bottom.

Depends but i have seen many people on insta who calls out real people ml/mc when it's mxm relationship kinda makes me irk like I mean I see in fictional sense and it's easy to refer someone as uke and seme mostly storyline is based on purpose of having specific positions of them , meanwhile people could also use top and bottom it's alright but ml/mc makes it so straight storyline to me.

True. I never figure out who is mc and who's ML though especially in BLs because both are same genders. Only after reading from whose perspective the story is written, I understand ohh this guy is mc and that guy is ml.

True it's confusing most of time it's alright to use ml/MC in other genres but using this term in yaoi /bl is actually hella confusing and I m not good at remember at all especially Korean names so it's hard to understand whom they are talking about so this term is actually very smooth.

I don't know what you're referring to at first, but using this terms outside of fiction is an aberration yes
Top/bottom is a good alternative, it doesn't change the meaning but it's much more contemporary ML/MC is less suitable for this genre, but you only need to read a few pages to identify who is who I don't really read straight stories, maybe the meaning attributed to the words escapes me because it would also seem odd to me for this alternative For me it would be more for long and pure stories, the ones I don't want to soiled with their positions during the night lol
All this to say that there is no harm in using one term or the other, everyone uses the one that suits them best

Yah true this actually don't harm people they can use however term they want but it actually confused me lot and sometimes we don't bother opening a manga/manhwa to check out who is uke or seme so we could read story. And from whose pov story is going it also adds on that

For me I started using ML/MC after reading lots of Danmei and their reviews in novelupdates coz it was more convenient I guess I don’t even remember when I started using them tho. This post just mad me realized haha I used to use seme uke term a lot even now I used them when I can’t bother with remembering their name or when I have to ask questions in comments.
