I know the deceased mom was the one who wrote the letter cause different font lol but
I'd like to think that those letters were indeed written by the father because he didn't know how to connect with his son and felt guilty about killing his wife. So, he admitted in those letters that he killed the mother, hoping his son would realize one day. But in the end, he died first, so he wrote the final confession, but still with mom's pov showing that he was a coward until the end.
Instead of being a villain, the father became someone who might have been trapped in his own regret.
It's hauntingly tragic that way.
