I totally agree, I love them together but the rape is so awful and graphic, I don’t get how people read that with no problem.. idk why the author felt to include all that
people in their era do not take life preciously, just because you have a higher position does not mean you can end someone's life that easily. I mean, yeah she did bad but is that enough to end her life?
ps. I know this is just a manhwa, but this really happened in real life on that era. I'm glad we were able to replace that system over the years but I feel bad for the people during that time

definitely. codes of chivalry and loyalty were much more concrete in real life medival times, and paying by blood for failing to live by your oath was an expected outcome. Honestly I find feudal system and societies nauseous in general (and their enduring legacies too) and can only stomach them in the form of manhwas (even historical romance novels are ruined for me) so I completely understand.

um todays era still does this? Not in my country but in many countries around the world if you conspire against the leader of the nation which resulted in multiple civilian deaths you'll still get a death penalty?
the difference is in due process/rule of law. A code or oath of the olden times beheld one to the word and law of their feudal lord; in most cases they were judge and jury. However if Aubrey was to be prosecuted in recent times, she would put on trial under abetment + conspiracy to abduct and greviously injure (and in the course of death of guards, manslaughter). This would get her life in prison at maximum (unless legal doctrines regarding the aforementioned crime were really severe depending on where she was tried). Here she dies by Cedric's sword and is executed on his command by her own sister (to let the rest of the family live). Furthermore, they're stripped of all titles. So yes, it is a serious crime in recent times too, but ones family and people of proximity aren't punished on their behalf.
This process would apply to my country and many other western/first world countries, however there are still countries where treason results in a death penalty. Not every country has rights, democracy nor a good judicial system. I wasn't saying that this was right, I was just pointing out that doing something like this in other parts of the world can have similar results so saying that this doesn't happen in today's era is inaccurate :)

holy shit dude...its not that deep. My father is also from a "third world country". I also never said that in my post. I wasn't trying to equate rule of law with western/ first world countries, that was your own understanding of my reply to your comment. This is a public thread so I said "first world" just to increase understanding, I know that its not an entirely accurate classification, however, it is still widely used. I guess a more modern classification would be WEIRD countries but thats not as widely used. Anyways my original comment was just to point out that death penalty for treason still happens today...thats all... your comment reeks of an inferiority complex but cheers mate hope you have a good day :)
