I didn't expect it but I don't hate it. The thing that really gets to me about large age gaps is how the older partner would most likely pass first and it breaks my heart.
usually age gaps don't bother me, but in this case where the seme has so much more power and authority over the uke, it just feels like it's working against Yiyoung

I understand why you would feel that way. Yes, in relationships where one person is significantly older than the other, there can be and usually is an imbalance of power. Especially considering Yiyoung is younger and much more inexperienced in comparison to the the Director. However, I don't believe that the Director was purposefully "toying" with Yiyoung. I saw someone point out the panels where Kageyama goes from running with his sister and grandpa to just running with his grandpa (where Kags clearly is ahead of him) to running behind Oikawa and Iwaizumi, and that him running alongside with Hinata means that much to him and is a testament to both of their growth as players.
