all the characters have life, the main character isn't edgy and is lovable, he doesn't get op instantly and his struggles are all so enticing to follow

Well said. I love this series so much I reread it 4 times while waiting for season 2
At the early chapters before chapter 72~ it's a very very enticing action story with insane art and choreography. However, the main plot, the revenge against Jiu Ji Tae's father and the saving of his sister, remained neglected for too long. JJT's (Jiu Ji Tae) character was complacent with being a scrub and ended up being too weak for the later progression of the story.

So, the drastic change occured and what we have used to know about him is completely gone, now with Tokyo Ghoul levels of edgy. The story goes into darker elements of fighting (doping, underground and "why") with somewhat unrealistic scenes? Still insane art but the plot is kinda all over the place and the background characters (past 73) are just zzzz snooze fest GTFO so I can see JJT kick ass again, and for some reason Maria who was the supposed greatest in the verse is knocked tf out and gone.
7/10, its just fun to read.
