they didn’t get together, since akira agreed to the arranged marriage. motoharu was left behind with his unrequited love alone - he did give akira and his wife his blessings tho. They parted peacefully, with no argument, only with broken hearts. akira eventually died, probably from age and it turns out, he is misaki’s grandpa. (Misaki is the protagonist of “Hana no mizu shiru”, the main story of this manga. “Hana no miyako de” is a spin off) motoharu, now misaki’s prof, recognizes akira when he saw misaki and feels happiness, since he remembers his time with akira. He isn’t romantically interested in misaki, but well, just dwells in good memories whenever he spends time with him!

I’m so glad! Ofc this has a lot of interpretation too. It could be a much more sad ending, but seeing how the prof is actually in a happy state of mind (in “Hana no mizu shiru”), I think this ending fits well

Small Correction, not unrequited love anymore since they already ahem ahem yk, but Akira got no other choice then accept that marriage. The option is yes or yes(● ̄(エ) ̄●)

Ahh yea ofc you’re right! My wording definitely wasn’t correct, I said “unrequited” because they didn’t got together in the end but akira loves Moto just as much as moto loved akira!
can someone explain the ending pls?
